    Bee Pollen

    About This Product

Bee pollen is made up of the small pellets that honeybees form by packing flower pollen with nectar and their own secretions. This raw product is yellow and granular. A certificate of analysis for one lot reports 2.9% moisture, lead 0.4 mg/kg and arsenic 0.2 mg/kg, with a total plate count below 1000 cfu/g, yeasts and moulds below 100 cfu/g and E. coli and Salmonella absent.

It is sold as an ingredient for food supplements and sports nutrition products, either as whole granules or milled for blends and capsules. The standard offer is pollen from mixed flower sources; sunflower and rape pollen are also offered as single-source lots, with their specifications confirmed on enquiry.

The certificate reports results for one lot rather than limits, so the agreed specification is set on enquiry. Bee pollen is a food of animal origin: imports into the UK and the EU must meet the official controls for apiculture products, and every lot should have quantified results for veterinary drug residues such as chloramphenicol and nitrofurans. Buyers should also confirm that the lot is intended for human consumption and suits their product.
