    Mecobalamin (Methylcobalamin)

Mecobalamin (Methylcobalamin) – Vitamins & Amino Acids product from Bio Green Foods

    About This Product

Methylcobalamin is one of the two coenzyme forms of vitamin B12 active in human metabolism, functioning as the cofactor for methionine synthase in the remethylation of homocysteine. Unlike cyanocobalamin it requires no conversion in the body.

That is the basis of its commercial positioning. Supplement brands specify it where the claim is that the vitamin is supplied in the form the body already uses, and it is common in sublingual and high-dose formats aimed at consumers who want a coenzyme rather than a synthetic form.

The trade-off is stability. Methylcobalamin is distinctly photosensitive, degrading on exposure to visible and ultraviolet light, and is less robust than cyanocobalamin to heat and to extremes of pH. Amber or opaque packaging, protection during processing and realistic overage are all part of formulating with it.

As with cyanocobalamin it is supplied diluted on a carrier for accurate dosing. Confirm the assay, the dilution and the storage requirement at enquiry.
