    Hydroxocobalamin

Hydroxocobalamin – Vitamins & Amino Acids product from Bio Green Foods

    About This Product

Hydroxocobalamin carries a hydroxyl group on the cobalt centre and is the form in which vitamin B12 circulates bound to plasma proteins. It is produced by fermentation rather than by chemical synthesis.

Its distinguishing property is retention. It binds plasma proteins more strongly than cyanocobalamin, so it is cleared more slowly and maintains elevated levels for longer from a single dose. That is why it is the preferred form in injectable B12 preparations and in supplement formats aiming for a sustained rather than immediate effect.

It is also the basis of the standard treatment for cyanide poisoning, where the cobalt centre binds cyanide to form cyanocobalamin, which is excreted; that is a pharmaceutical rather than a food application, and supply for it falls under the corresponding regulatory route.

Supplied as a dilution on a carrier for accurate dosing. Confirm the assay, dilution and intended regulatory category at enquiry.
