甲钴胺（甲基钴胺素）

甲基钴胺素是维生素B12在人体代谢中具有活性的两种辅酶形式之一，在同型半胱氨酸再甲基化过程中作为甲硫氨酸合成酶的辅因子发挥作用。与氰钴胺不同，它在体内无需转化。
这正是其商业定位的基础。当宣称以人体本已使用的形式提供该维生素时，补充剂品牌会指定使用甲基钴胺素；在面向希望获得辅酶形式而非合成形式的消费者的舌下含服及高剂量剂型中，它也很常见。
代价在于稳定性。甲基钴胺素对光明显敏感，暴露于可见光和紫外光下会降解，且对热和极端pH值的耐受性不如氰钴胺。棕色或不透光包装、加工过程中的避光保护以及合理的投料过量，都是使用该原料进行配方设计的组成部分。
