灵芝提取物以赤芝（Ganoderma lucidum，在中国称为灵芝）为原料制得，CAS 号为 223751-82-4。本品提供多糖含量 20%、30% 和 50% 等级；多糖是富含 β-葡聚糖的组分，灵芝提取物通常以其进行标准化。
灵芝在东亚传统中已有数百年的使用历史，如今是菌菇类补充剂、茶饮和功能饮料的主要原料之一。其多糖以 β-葡聚糖为主，是划分等级的依据，而灵芝酸等三萜类则赋予提取物苦味。与其他菌菇提取物一样，多糖数值在很大程度上取决于检测方法。常用的苯酚–硫酸法测定的是总碳水化合物，因此也会将其中存在的淀粉或麦芽糊精计算在内；而 β-葡聚糖专属方法所报告的则是真正来自灵芝的组分。因此，应基于同一方法比较不同等级，并确认是否使用了载体。在欧盟（EU），灵芝在食品补充剂中已有使用历史，而其他食品用途则应对照新型食品法规进行核查。
