This is a compostable film compound, supplied as a pellet compound for blown film, for producing bags intended for direct food contact. It is a compounded blend rather than a single resin and carries no single CAS number. The film is formulated for the toughness a bag needs to survive filling and handling without splitting at the seal, and the finished bag is compostable at end of life.

The question a food business asks about compostable packaging is whether it is actually approved for food contact, because a great deal of what is sold as compostable is not. This compound is supplied FDA compliant for direct food contact on the grades specified against that requirement, which puts the documentation at the resin stage, where a packer can rely on it, rather than leaving it to be assembled after the fact. The second question is what switching costs. It is designed to run on the blown film equipment a packer or its converter already has, so the change is a resin change rather than a capital project, and the work that remains is mostly in the seal: the seal is where the film has been melted a second time and the orientation put into it by the bubble has been lost, which makes it the weakest line in a filled bag and the place a tough film earns its keep. The third question is where the bag goes afterwards. The finished bag is compostable, which matters most where the pack leaves with food residue on it, in produce, bakery and deli, because a bag carrying residue cannot realistically be recycled and would otherwise contaminate a recycling stream.
